I adore film. It’s the reason I fell in love with photography! The soft, sometimes fuzzy, colorful, tactile magic of film still delights my heart and offers me a creative reprieve from my digital photography world.
Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending Kelly Williams’ birthday styled shoot! Kelly is the owner of A Bushel And A Peck Vintage Rentals and the creator of the Milk & Honey Collective. She recently moved her studio to Lenoir, NC where she showcases her rentals and offers the space for use by photographers. It’s gorgeous inside and has LOTS of light, which makes it a wonderful space to shoot film!
My digital gear was in the shop so I took the opportunity to shoot several rolls of film at her birthday event. I’m so glad I did! I shot mostly on my medium format Pentax 645N using Portra 800 pulled to 200. I am absolutely IN LOVE with the colors from this shoot! I didn’t modify any of these colors. All the vibrancy you see is straight out of camera <3
I’ve shot film a lot of over the years, but haven’t offered it as much to clients. My heart is alight with just how happy it’s making me to be shooting film again! My goal for 2021 is to shoot as much film as possible — for editorials as well as client shoots. Love this look? Let me know and I will work film into your session!
I used to hate pink. Honestly. But I must say lately I’ve been in love with soft pinks and all of the feminine pastels that you see throughout this shoot. Throw in some vibrant pops of magenta, red and fuchsia… you have my heart!
