Every once in a while you get a couple who have a truly unique idea for their wedding experience. Maggie & Josh were EXACTLY that couple!
When Maggie and I spoke initially about her wedding, she confessed that her and Josh weren’t sure if they wanted a wedding. I’m so glad they decided to go all in! They chose a very special place called Camp Ton-A-Wandah for their wedding weekend. An all-girls summer camp located in Hendersonville, NC, Camp Ton-A-Wandah is the kind of camp that I’d want to go to if I were a kid! Complete with a zip line, high-ropes course, diving board, archery, tennis courts, horse facilities, hiking and the coolest layout, Camp Ton-A-Wandah makes for great fun for not only kids, but also for 100+ of your closest friends and companions 🙂
The day began with swimming, zip lining, and blobbing at the lake. With tunes going, guests hung out with the couple and family around the lake prior to the wedding festivities. This relaxed hang make for great action shots while guest enjoyed boxed lunches, wine, and beer.
(If you’re curious about what blobbing is, just check out the photos above and below with the giant green and yellow lake pillow. It was used as a catapult of sorts.)
Maggie and Mama Haas (Josh’s mom) made a special request that I capture the fun happening in and around the cabins. Maggie & Josh’s friends didn’t disappoint and were definitely hams for the camera!
This wedding was put on as a team effort! DJ Darrell Harris played all the best tunes during lake time and the flowers in the dining hall were done by a family friend. While the couple got ready in separate cabins, I bounced around camp.
The ceremony was held at a lovely chapel in the woods. Once the groom and groomsmen arrived, we snapped a couple of preemptive photos. These guys (and gal) really let their silly show!
The chapel was made up of a fireplace and benches under an open air pavilion. Maggie & Josh tied the knot while their friends and family cheered them on (quite literally!). You can tell that these two are truly loved and a valued part of their community.
We took a couple of minutes after the ceremony to snap photos around the chapel and lake. I just loved how natural Maggie & Josh were. They couldn’t stop laughing and smiling at one another 🙂
The cocktail hour took place on the lake where just a couple of hours earlier guests had soaked up the sunshine. The charcuterie spread was incredible!
Dinner was a low country boil paired with salad garnished with Maggie’s late-father’s dressing recipe. Each seat had their own takeaway recipe card. I’m going to try making this dressing sometime <3 After dinner, guests made their way over to the gymnasium where Packway Handle Band played bluegrass tunes. The kiddos went wild!
This day was so much fun! The laid back and jovial atmosphere throughout the day made it a unique and unforgettable experience. Congrats to Maggie & Josh!
