Earlier this month Sara & John tied the knot at the Barn at Cornerstone under sunny skies and surrounded by their friends and family. The venue is a gorgeous property just off of 194 in Banner Elk. With a barn reception space, rolling greens, a creek and an old red barn, the Barn at Cornerstone has character and beauty!
The day began with Sara getting ready surrounded by her bridesmaids, parents and family members. You can tell that family is so important to these two as they made sure that everyone was involved in the festivities of the day.
By the time I arrived, nearly everyone was ready with just finishing touches needed before Sara & John’s first look. We found a shady spot under a tree and setup the special moment when John saw Sara for the first time <3 I love just how excited and ready for marriage these two were. A true team! We took advantage of the old red barn and beautiful spaces at the Barn at Cornerstone for bride & groom portraits before heading back to the reception barn for family photos.
Sara & John’s bridal party was made up of siblings and besties who were NOT afraid to act ridiculous for the camera. I adored the gold and navy bridesmaids’ dresses, which were perfectly matched by the groomsmen’s blue slacks and vests. With the first look, family photos and bridal party photos all completed before the ceremony, everyone was able to relax and have fun for photos 🙂
Since Sara & John met here in the High Country, it was important for them to have at least one photo against a mountain backdrop. Just before the ceremony Sara’s dad drove us up the road just above Banner Elk winery for these dramatic photos.
The ceremony took place on the Barn at Cornerstone’s lawn with the creek rolling just behind the bridal party. It was bright, sunny and warm just like the love between Sara & John <3
The reception started with a cocktail hour that allowed the couple to mingle with friends and enjoy a beverage before dinner. After their entrance, Sara & John went immediately into their first dance followed by Mother/Son and Father/Daughter dances. I had the opportunity to witness the Pasma sisters perform a brief little choreographed dance for the guests! It was so adorable–you can tell that these lovely ladies are besties!
Heartfelt toasts, laughter, a tap trailer and bundt cakes in lieu of a traditional wedding cake made the event joyous and unforgettable! Sara & John also took the time for a couple of photos later in the evening after the sun had dipped down a bit and the light softened.
Oh! And did I mention that Sara, John and their guests like to dance???
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… I’m so thankful to be able to work with so many amazing individuals whose hearts are filled with love. Congrats to Sara & John as the begin their new life together!
