Kelsey & Drew tied the knot on Friday, August 3rd at a cozy mountain cabin in Purlear, NC, which is tucked away just 12 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. With beautiful views, their closest family present and a relaxed atmosphere, these two sweet souls exchanged vows.
The afternoon began with guys hanging out and getting ready in the cabin’s loft while the ladies lounged in the basement. Such a small gathering allows everyone to be involved in some way and also removes the stress of coordinating large groups of guests and family. While they prepared for their first look, I snapped a couple of photos of Kelsey’s grecian style wedding dress and a set of studs and necklace given to her by Drew’s father’s wife. I loved the subtle and carefully chosen details of this wedding!
Kelsey picked the cabin’s front porch for her first look. You can tell that they were both so relieved to finally be with one another. Truly these two are each other’s rock!
First looks are the best, as they allow time for photos prior to the ceremony, which I just LOVE! This allows me to work my magic and get my couples to their reception as soon as possible. Many opt for another quick photo session later in the evening as a way to steal a few private moments during the reception (which Kelsey & Drew did). Here are our pre-ceremony portraits…
While we were taking photos, guests began to make their way down to the forest for an intimate and tender ceremony surrounded by light, love and natural wonder <3
The evening opened with barbecue from the Peddlin’ Pig, toasts from the maid of honor and best man and moonpies in lieu of cake. Dinner on the porch offered a spectacular view!
Once again… I just love intimate weddings! Kelsey & Drew changed into comfier clothes and we snapped a couple more fun photos 🙂
Congrats again to Kelsey & Drew and good luck on their next big adventure!
