Back in July, I had the pleasure of capturing photos of my dear friend and fellow photographer Morgan Childers Caddell and her family. I’m always a little bit nervous (and flattered) when another photographer asks me for a session. I’m also thrilled to be able to work with kids when I get the chance. This summer has been chock-full of families and kids. I especially adore these sessions because this year’s parents requested candids of their kids being themselves. Run around after kids playing and being wild? Yes, please!
Historic Yates Mill County Park is an awesome little spot with an old waterwheel near the edge of the dam, a long bridge over the lake and lots of walking paths to explore. Scout was feeling a little shy on the afternoon of our shoot. She wanted to be with mom and dad the whole time, and thus, didn’t go far from Morgan’s arms at first.
After walking around a bit, we decided to spread out in the field and let Scout run wild a bit. This little girl is as smart as a whip! She’s curious and extremely independent. I’m always so impressed by the things that Scout discovers. With such an inquisitive mind, we are certain to see great things from this little one!
For this shoot, I edited in a different style than I normally do. Most of my edits are bright, contrasty and vibrant in color. However, I let the vintage/VSCO-look come out with this session. I personally love it and really appreciate the fact that with certain clients I can change it up every now and again.
I’m so grateful to have such wonderful friends and colleagues <3 As this was my second summer in a row capturing images of the Caddells, I am looking forward to next year’s shoot!
Thanks for stopping by!
