Well that was a lot of snow! After moving to Boone just two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of experiencing a true snow storm this past weekend.
At first I felt a bit speculative about going through such a cold adventure, but this weekend convinced me that I actually really like living in the mountains during the summer as well as the winter months. We built a snowman, went sledding and I took advantage of the time off by catching up on some reading, Netflix and editing.
I also learned how sometimes the challenge of leaving the house is actually digging yourself out from under the snow more than a question of road conditions. Will your car make it over that big pile of pow pow?
The snow stopped falling late Saturday, which made way for a winter wonderland highlighted by a full moon. As I live a bit outside of town, our house looks out across a small field that was virtually untouched–a white blanket of powdery snow. Sunday night I decided to find out how snow photographs at night. Here are my results:
Looks a lot like the stars twinkling in the sky.
Standing in a field of snow on a quiet clear moonlit night was certainly an experience…
…but the sledding was my favorite! 🙂
