Two weekends ago, I had the pleasure of being a part of my first styled shoot thanks to the super talented Wayfaring Wanderer, who invited me along as her assistant and second shooter.
The shoot took place at the new venue Fussell Farm located in Millers Creek, NC and just a short drive down the mountain from Boone. The venue features a large, light-filled, open-air barn situated in a field flanked by a creek and tucked into a little valley. The space was perfect for photographing all the details styled by DeAnna Reid of Edenhouse, who also designed the florals for the shoot(which included thistles–my absolute FAVORITE!). The barn was accented by chandeliers, white drapery, and comes equipped with a built-in bar, kitchen and fully finished restrooms. There’s also a gorgeous bridal lounge for getting ready and enjoying mimosas with your bridesmaids on your big day.
Who wouldn’t want to dine at this table with dinnerware and accents from Miss Match Rentals? The colors and theme featured lots of greenery and gold offering a natural feel for the farm setting. Beth from Ugga Mugga Bakery was there in full force and incorporated the greenery into her cake design.
Need a bit of flare for your barn wedding? A Bushel & A Peck Vintage Rentals has got you covered! The little olive sofa here was definitely a favorite of ours 🙂
The models for the shoot were the Fussell’s son Devon and his lovely girlfriend and App State Business Management major Makayla, who is seen here in this amazing two-piece dress by Lillian West and on loan from downtown Boone’s very own Did Someone Say Party?. I’ve never had the chance to see a two-piece wedding dress in action, and this one did not disappoint!
There’s the little green sofa again!
Fussell Farm will be hosting it’s very own Wedding Expo on May 7th organized in part by our wonderful model Makayla. Getting married? Learn more about Elevation Bridal.
I cannot thank Jessica of Wayfaring Wanderer and the rest of this team enough for having me along on this shoot. I learned so much and it’s not often that you get the opportunity to shoot all the aspects of a wedding without the time crunch of a wedding day. I look forward to working with everyone again and maybe styling my own shoot someday.
